Almost Ready

Hi Everyone,

Here’s a synopsis of our activities beginning this coming Wednesday, the 5th, as we head to Washington, DC for Veterans’ Day:

On Wednesday, November 5th, the Quilts of Honor Crews, some from California and Wisconsin, head to Washington, DC to honor our veterans on Veterans’ Day weekend.  We are excited to have this opportunity, again.

On Thursday we will be meeting to unload the quilts that were shipped via Pilot Freight to DC and prepare them for display and presentation.

On Friday we will be touring The Pentagon in the morning and touring the Washington Monument in the afternoon.

Saturday will basically be a free day.  Another tour will be available at the Washington Monument for those unable to go on Friday.

Sunday and Monday we will be at Mount Vernon.  Quilts will be on display as well as many quilts awarded to attending veterans.  Our ceremony will be held in the Smith Auditorium from 11:30 to 12:30.  There also will be a Wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of George and Martha Washington in the afternoon.

Tuesday afternoon we will be at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial located inside Arlington Cemetery.  Quilts of Honor has been included in their Veterans’ Day Program and we are very honored.  A Quilt for each branch of the service will be on display and quilts will be awarded.

Wednesday will be our last morning all together.  Some will be departing for home in the afternoon with the remainder leaving early Thursday morning.

Of course we will be blogging our adventures during the week and also posting on our Facebook page.  You can find us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/134434059904991/.  I’m sure there will be plenty of “U-turns”.

Hope you will follow along as we honor our veterans on Veterans’ Day Weekend.

God bless all who continue to honor our mission.
Gail
